We’re on the lookout for mechanics to join our team as we transform the way people get around Chicago! We’ve launched a bike mechanic “boot camp” with the help of West Town Bikes, Blackstone Bicycle Works, and SAFER Foundation. Our goal is to create job opportunities for adults with barriers to employment and young people.
Boot camp training will be provided by West Town Bikes and Blackstone Bicycle Works. Boot camp participants will be trained on bike assembly, maintenance and repair, and safe cycling instruction. In addition to learning bicycle-related skills, SAFER Foundation will train participants on essential skills critical to success, like resume writing, personal finance skills, business planning, and entrepreneurship.
Graduates of the program will then have the opportunity to interview as a bike mechanic at Divvy, helping keep Chicagoans riding by maintaining our 6,000 bikes (and growing!). Interested applicants can email Alex Wilson at email@example.com or Matthew Steele at firstname.lastname@example.org. Photo credit @westtownbikes.
