This Summer, our pedal-assisted ebikes have been rolling through the Northwest and Southwest sides of Chicago. With our latest expansion, we’ve made our way into the Chicago neighborhood, Belmont Cragin.
Meet Nathalie, she’s one of the members of the Youth Leadership Council in part of the Northwest Side Housing Center. Nathalie is a local community leader focusing on improving transportation needs through biking and improving cycling infrastructure. The NWSHC is a community based, non-profit organization that provides resources and works to educate & empower the Belmont Cragin community.
What community (and or) organization are you representing?
I am representing the Northwest Side Housing Center Belmont Cragin Youth Leadership Council.
What hidden gems are hidden within your community?
Avenida Peru is a new Peruvian restaurant in the neighborhood. They make the best Lomo Saltado in the city! Another hidden gem within Belmont Cragin is our annual Cuban Festival. Many famous salsa artists come into our neighborhood to perform their music!
Who taught you how to ride a bike?
My father taught me when I was 5 years old!
What's your earliest cycling memory?
One of my earliest cycling memories was riding around my block with my neighborhood friends.
What's your favorite cycling memory?
One of my favorite cycling memories was biking to the beach with my friends this past summer. I hope to do the same this year!
