Now that the leaves are changing, it’s time to take advantage of the short time Chicago has to enjoy the beautiful autumn colors throughout our amazing parks! We recommend grabbing a Day Pass (unlimited 3-hour rides for 24 hours) and a few friends and taking this route:
Lincoln Park is Chicago’s largest park with many things to do like a free zoo, conservatory, and if you catch it on the right day, a farmer’s market. It’s a great peaceful ride through many different types of trees (weaving through geese usually) and stopping along the way to take pictures along this scenic route.
Divvy Stations: Lake Shore Drive & North Blvd; Clark St. & North Ave.; Clark St. & Lincoln Ave.; Cannon Dr. & Fullerton Ave.; Stockton Dr. & Wrightwood Ave.; Lake Shore Drive & Diversey Parkway
Head through the park, and then north along Clark Street to get to Graceland Cemetery & Arboretum. Be sure to dock your Divvy bike before entering, but don’t miss this hidden wonder in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. Many notable people to the city of Chicago are buried here such as Potter Palmer, Marshall Field, Daniel Burnham, Louis Sullivan, and Mies van der Rohe. But just walking around the Victorian era cemetery, especially during the changing of the seasons, is wonderfully picturesque.
Divvy Station: Southport Ave. & Clark St.
Grab your Divvy bike again and continue heading north on Clark and then west on Lawrence and then a couple of blocks north on Damen until you reach Winnemac Park in the Lincoln Square neighborhood. This park may seem small but it has amazing foliage and you can sit and watch as squirrels scamper around hunting for food to hide away for the inevitable winter!
Divvy Station: Damen Ave. & Foster Ave.
It’s time to rest and relax! Lucky for you just a .3 mile ride away north on Hoyne is the Half Acre Balmoral Brewery (with a BRAND NEW Divvy station right outside!). With a full menu and tons of beers to choose from you’ll be set for the rest after a day of exploring. If the weather is cooperating, sit on the patio.
Pro tip: if you want to try another Chicago brewery walk a few feet east down Balmoral from Half Acre and you’ll find Spiteful Brewing.
Divvy Station: Hoyne Ave. & Balmoral Ave.
